About CTA

About Us:

This association was created in 2009, right around the time when huge reforms in the trucking industry started taking precedent. This left the industry in distress due to lower load rates, higher costs and increased regulations which severely affected the most vulnerable, the truck drivers, owner operators and small family owned trucking companies. To make matters worse, the economy was facing a brutal recession, on the brink of a depression. The established trucking associations at that time were doing very little to help the truckers. This prompted an immediate need for an association that would be led by veterans/ key persons of the industry that were speaking for the rights/issues of the trucking industry. Canadian Truckers Association was created. CTA has been at the fore front of most issues in the past decade with relation to the trucking industry. Truckers, owners’ operators, and transportation companies finally have a platform that will respond to their issues/concerns right away with heavy influence and proven results. This is a non-profit organization which uses all the funds collected back into the bottom line, helping truckers.

Canadian Truckers Association’s Policy Committees address legislation and regulation policy’s that impact safety/security, hiring policy’s, highway policy’s, and insurance policy’s. CTA’s Action Committee evaluates and recommends programs/ solutions that help the trucking industry move forward. The Connections Committee equips CTA members to take their questions and concerns directly to the elected officials and industry leaders in position to listen and help them out.

The decision-making process among the association is very streamlined and effective. Doesn’t matter the size or influence of the member, the voting process is democratic and lets everyone have a voice. We decide on most issues and concerns through this form of decision making. The voting occurs during board meetings, seminars, conferences, committee meetings and online polling. The elected board of directors are chosen among the members.

We want all persons involved in the trucking industry to get a membership with CTA. This will help the members to have their voice heard, network among the trucking industry and be part of an association that is at the fore front of the trucker empowerment and advocacy movement.
